The history of swimming

Swimming is one of the traditional disciplines of the modern Olympic Games, made since the inaugural edition in Athens in 1896. It currently comprises 17 events for men and women as many. The women competed for the first time in 1912.



Swimming is movement and movement through the water through the use of the body limbs and by the general without using any instrument or support to advance, swimming is generally for recreation, sport, exercise or survival. Humans can hold underwater breathing and perform rudimentary localization, this can make weeks after birth as an evolutionary response.
